Habitat for Humanity creates affordable housing by providing communities with the necessary leadership and support. Homes have traditionally been provided by volunteer community groups acquiring land, raising funds and materials, and ultimately, constructing an economical, safe, healthy and secure home, for individuals or families who are unable to afford a home at market prices. In many communities, the magnitude of the affordable housing crisis now dictates an accelerated solution.
Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North covers the large geographical area from Midland in the south to Sudbury in the north. One current example of a new affordable housing solution is our current project in Huntsville: two duplexes in the final stages of construction will ultimately provide four affordable homes at affordable rent adjusted to the occupants’ income. We are now in our final push to raise the funds to complete the project in early 2021.
I’ve committed to raise $5,000 in donations toward completing the project. I will do 2,000 push ups, starting at 50 push ups per day and increasing the number to 100 push ups daily over the course of the next 20 days...it is my intention to establish a personal routine well beyond this initial fundraising. Your support is sincerely appreciated!
